If you’re about to attend your first class at Hot Yoga South, here’s some useful info.

  • Please register and pay in advance, before attending class. PLEASE NOTE: You will not be able to drop in for a class without pre-booking.

  • Make sure you arrive 20 minutes before class starts.

  • Bring water, but always make sure you’re well hydrated before arriving at class.

  • Bring a yoga mat. We do sell them if needed.

  • Injuries, illnesses of limited movement? Let the teacher know beforehand so we can provide variations and alternative postures.

  • Avoid eating for at least 2 hours before class, but make sure you’re not too hungry. You’ll be burning a lot of calories.

  • If you’re new, the back of the room is best because you can see what other people are doing. Just make sure you can see yourself in the mirror.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Hot Yoga

What should I bring with me?

  • Appropriate clothes for the class (see below)

  • Water

  • Yoga mat

  • 2 towels

  • Dry clothes to change into afterwards

What should I wear?

Shorts, leggings or yoga pants, plus a vest or tank top. Some people wear a hot yoga outfit, which looks a bit like a two-piece tankini.

It’s best to avoid loose clothes because as you sweat, they’ll get clingy and annoying.

Please ladies, no skimpy bikinis and gentlemen, please don’t turn up to class wearing only your boxer shorts.

Is it suitable for beginners?

Yes. The class is suitable for all ages and abilities.

If you have injuries or any condition that affects your range of movement, that’s fine. Let the teacher know beforehand so we can give you alternative postures.

How hot is it?

The room is heated to 45° with 50-60% humidity. It's warm, but not stuffy or uncomfortable.

The heat gives you a number of physical and psychological benefits:

  • With warm muscles, you achieve a deeper stretch with less risk of injury.

  • Sweating cleanses your skin and gives you a detox.

  • Your body works harder and more calories are burned. It's a great workout.

  • The heat encourages calm, regular full breaths.

  • You’ll leave the class more relaxed, less stressed and more alert.

How often should I go?

You’ll get benefits if you go just once a week. However, if you want to see significant changes, aim for 3 times a week minimum.

We have limited mat space. To avoid disappointment, try and get into the habit of booking your classes at least one week in advance.

The best (and cheapest) way to achieve life-changing benefits is to sign up to the 30-day £55 deal. That way, you can come along as often as you want, and take part in any of our classes, not just hot yoga.

After a couple of weeks, you’ll find the classes become easier and you’ll get into a routine. It will become a habit.

What should I bring with me?

  • Appropriate clothes for the class (see below)

  • Water

  • Yoga mat

  • 2 towels

  • Dry clothes to change into afterwards

What should I wear?

Wear something comfortable that allows you to move freely. Bear in mind that you’ll be sweating so it’s best to avoid clothing that’s very loose. It will stick to you and become annoying.

Most people wear shorts, leggings or yoga pants with a vest top. Some people wear a hot yoga outfit – a bit like a two-piece tankini.

Is it suitable for beginners?

Yes. The class is suitable for all ages and abilities.

If you’re new, it’s normal to find it challenging at first and you may feel a bit knackered afterwards. Don't give up. Try your best, keep coming back and each class will be easier than the last.

If it’s your first time, let the teacher know – and the same if you have injuries or any condition that affects your range of motion.

How hot is it?

The room is heated to 38°C - warm, but not uncomfortably stuffy.

Heat intensifies the benefits. Your muscles and joints loosen up more quickly so you’ll have a greater range of motion. As you sweat, calories start to burn faster and your body clears out toxins and pollutants.

AS always I love Almania's classes. She always takes the time to give positive and needed corrections. She was helping us on Zoom and all in class also. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to do both. Eyes everywhere!! Thank you so much Almania.
